The Rabie Ridge SAPS arrested a 20-year-old man after was found in possession of suspected stolen property.
The arrest occurred at around 1 am.
According to the Rabie Ridge SAPS communications officer, Constable Jacob Nhlongo, officers were patrolling the Mayibuye area when they came across two suspects carrying chairs.
“The suspects realised they were being followed by the police and tried to escape. One suspects was arrested and the other dropped chair and fled the scene,” he said.
Const Nhlongo added that they suspect the chairs were stolen from one of the churches in Mayibuye.
“We are still looking for the rightful owner of the stolen property and the police are still tracing the suspect who fled the scene,” he added.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.
