The suspects were arrested last week.
The Tembisa SAPS Cluster’s spokesperson, Captain Manyadza Ralidzhivha, said a 56-year-old man claimed he was in Emoyeni Section during the early hours of Wednesday delivering stock to a shop when he was approached by three unknown men.
One of the suspects pointed a firearm at him and forced him out of the car. It is also alleged that the suspects robbed the victim of his cellular phone and cash.
The SAPS was called to the scene and when they arrived, they started looking for the car.
Officers spotted the car in Isthama Section.
Police officers confronted the suspects before arresting them. A 30 -year old man was found in possession of a firearm.
It was later established that the suspect was out on parole. It was also discovered that he was serving a 10 year sentence for car hijacking.
“I am happy with the quick reaction of our members, who took a brave initiative to look for the car. They have done a good job. I also thank members of the community who helped us in this regard,” said the acting station commander, Colonel Nthipe Boloka.
