The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) arrested two suspects who were caught red-handed while stripping a Nissan 1400 bakkie, which was allegedly stolen from Igaga, in Tembisa, on Thursday night.
According to the EMPD’s spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago, Ekurhuleni Metro Police Loss Control & Investigations Unit members were able to recover the vehicle on Friday afternoon. Two suspects were subsequently arrested.
“At 1.30pm on Friday, in Isiziba Section, EMPD officers found two men disassembling the stolen bakkie. The suspects were caught in the act of taking the vehicle apart when the police officers pounced,” said Chief Supt Kgasago.
The arrested suspects, aged 24 and 48, were charged at the Tembisa SAPS for being in possession of a stolen motor vehicle. The suspects are expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.
