Illegal firearms recovered, two detained

The Rabie Ridge SAPS arrested two men for possession of unlicensed firearms.

The arrests occurred in Phomolong at about 3am on Tuesday morning last week.

According to the Rabie Ridge SAPS communications officer, Constable Jacob Nhlongo, police officers received a tip-off from community members.

“They followed up on the information and proceeded to the address of the suspects. They searched the house and found two illegal firearms.

“The suspects, aged between 30 and 34, were arrested and detained at the Rabie Ridge SAPS for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition,” he added.

Const Nhlongo thanked the community members who helped in the recovery of the illegal firearms.

The two suspects are expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.
