Filling station robbed of undisclosed amount of cash

Robbers take an undisclosed amount of cash.

An Engen filling station on Allandale Road, Austin View, was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money after an ATM bombing on Thursday last week.

The incident happened at around 11pm.

According to the Rabie Ridge SAPS spokesperson, Constable Jacob Nhlongo, the teller at the filling station noticed a vehicle parked in front of the filling station’s shop.

“It is alleged one suspect, who was wearing a mask, exited the vehicle quickly and entered the shop. It is believed the suspect was carrying a rifle. He told the people not to panic and to move towards the bakery and lie down,” he said.

Constable Nhlongo said after few minutes, the people heard a loud noise and smelt smoke.

“They stood up and found that the suspect had escaped with an undisclosed amount of money. We appeal to members of the community to help us with any information that could assist in the arrest of the suspects,” he said.

A case of ATM bombing was opened at the Rabie Ridge SAPS.
