A 23-year-old man was hijacked and kidnapped with his girlfriend in Teak Crescent Street, Ebony Park, Extension 5 on Tuesday night last week.
According to the Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, the victim claimed he was sitting in his vehicle, a VW Polo, together with his girlfriend when three unknown men emerged and surrounded the vehicle.
“It is believed the three suspects were all armed. The victims were both forced to move to the back seat. The suspects then drove with them until they reached a deserted area in Olifantsfontein.
“The victim was tied up in the back seat and the three men took his girlfriend to the bushes. It is claimed the trio took turns raping her,” she said.
W/O Sekgobela said the suspects then drove off and left the victims at the deserted area in Olifantsfontein.
“Several items, including bank cards and three cellular phones, were also taken during the crime. The victims were helped by patrolling security officers. The VW Polo was later recovered in Benoni. A case of hijacking, rape and robbery was opened. We urge anyone with information that could lead to the arrests of the suspects to come forward,” she said.
