STOLEN car parts valued at about R100 000 were found by the police after the arrest of two men in Chloorkop on Monday last week.
Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, Capt Lesibana Molokomme, said police reacted on a tip off and made the arrest at 7.30pm on Nora Street.
“The officers received information that the suspects were in possession of stolen property reported stolen during a business burglary at a motor spares dealer on West Street on March 16,” explained Molokomme.When the officers arrived at the suspects’ house, they tried to escape but were caught with the help of the community.
“The suspects took the officers to their storage facility on Allandale Road towards Midrand, where they recovered boxes containing various motor vehicle parts.”
The items included those stolen during the burglary in Kempton Park.
The suspects tried to bribe the police to be released with R7 150, which was confiscated.
The two suspects, aged 37 and 40, are Zimbabwean and Malawian citizens and will face charges of possession of stolen property, business burglary and bribery.
A third suspect is still at large.
