According to the Tembisa North SAPS spokesperson, Constable Tebogo Sesing, Isaac Selepe Mantsie (33) and Paul Makgoro (32) recently appeared in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court and were found guilty of rape.
“They were also declared unfit to own firearms,” he said.
Constable Sesing said a 48-year-old woman claimed she had visited her sister, who is mentally handicapped.
On arrival, her sister told her that she had been raped by two men.
The 48-year-old woman then alerted her brother.
“They went to look for the suspects in Ivory Park,” he said.
Const Sesing said the two managed to apprehend one suspect but the second suspect managed to escape.
“They informed the police. The other suspect was later arrested. They were both detained at the Ivory Park SAPS and charged with rape. This type of sentence will serve as a deterrent to those who rape women and children in the community. We also congratulate Sergeant Makhubela, who worked tirelessly for the duo to be arrested and sentenced,” said Const Sesing.
