A Mercedes Benz A160, which was recently hijacked, was found in a back yard in Tembisa by the metro police.
The owner of the house claimed that the vehicle was parked there by one of his sub-tenants.
Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesman, said they expected to make an arrest soon as the land lord provided them with the suspect’s full particulars. The man-hunt is under way for the suspect.
In another incident a 25-year-old male suspect is behind bars for being in possession of a motor vehicle stolen in Kempton Park. The arrest of the suspect and the recovery of the motor vehicle took place in Tembisa on Sunday evening.
Acting on a tip off, crime prevention task team members found both the vehicle and the suspect at Mthambeka Section. A charge of possession of a stolen vehicle was laid at Tembisa Police Station.
