A 16-year-old Tembisa teenager is suspected of killing his six-year-old sister at their home in Kanana Section on April 22.
There are allegations that the teen heard voices, telling him to kill his sister.
According to Rabie Ridge SAPS spokesman, Const Jacob Nhlongo, the children’s mother left them at home and went to work.
“It is believed the mother went to the créche after work to fetch her six-year-old daughter. When she arrived there, she was told her child had not been brought to the créche that day.
She went home and discovered the child had been hanged, Nhlongo said. Paramedics were called and the child was certified dead at the scene.
Nhlongo said a case of murder had been opened. The 16-year-old boy was arrested and released into the care of his parents.
