Man arrested for allegedly raping his gardner

In another incident a stolen firearm has been recovered

A 56-year-old Birchleigh North man has been arrested after allegedly raping a man he hired as a gardener.

The Norkem Park SAPS spokesperson, Capt Lesibana Molokomme, said the arrest was made on April 25 at 6pm.

The 25-year-old victim was allegedly promised R150 to work as a gardener for a day.

“The victim claims that on arrival at the suspect’s house, he was taken to the shower and was forcefully raped several times. The matter was reported to the Norkem Park SAPS,” said Capt Molokomme.

In another incident the following day, at about 10pm, two police officers from the Tembisa Cluster TRT arrested a 24-year-old suspect at the Esselen Park RDP houses. The suspect was in possession of an unlicensed firearm with four live rounds of ammunition.

“The officers received a tip off which they followed up. On making an enquiry about the firearm, it was found it had been reported as stolen during a break-in at a Midrand house in February,” said Capt Molokomme.
