BRAAM Koch, the husband and father who fell victim to a Nimrod Park shooting last month, is recovering well.
According to his wife, Tertia, who has been at her husband’s side since the incident, said he was slowly making progress, although he was still in ICU on a ventilator.
“He is indeed getting better every day and although he can’t speak, he does recognise everyone’s face,” Tertia said.
Koch (59) was airlifted to a private hospital on April 20 after being shot in the stomach during an apparent botched hijacking.
The couple had just arrived at their Lechwe Road home on the night of the incident when two armed suspects entered their home. They had been at family dinner at their son’s house.
The armed men attacked the couple in their driveway and shot Koch once in the stomach. A shot fired at Tertia missed. They fled with Koch’s wallet and cell phone.
He sustained severe injuries and had his one kidney, spleen and part of his colon removed during an operation on the same night of the shooting.
The bullet, which was meant to be removed as soon as he was stabilised, is still lodged in his back.
