Video: Kempton Square thieves caught on video

The suspects were captured on the shopping centre's CCTV footage in February

KEMPTON police are searching for two men caught on video stealing a Samsung computer screen from a shopping centre.

The footage was captured on Kempton Square’s CCTV cameras on February 23, police spokesperson Capt Jethro Mtshali told EXPRESS.

“The supervisor came to work the following day to find the computer screen missing from the security booth,” Mtshali explained.

The footage shows two white males (one dressed in a long-sleeved black top and blue denim shorts and the other a blue sweater and long black pants) walking inside the parking lot area of the shopping centre.

The latter suspect was also carrying a black backpack.

The two first walk past one of the security booths, with the suspect carrying the backpack touching and looking inside the booth.

Moments later the pair comes back and the suspect carrying the backpack is seen reaching inside the booth and taking something from it, while his accomplice keeps watch.

The two spend some time trying to get the computer, with the suspect who was keeping watch later seen now carrying the bag.

Finally, they manage to get the computer and once placed inside the bag, the suspects leave the parking lot.

It is unclear what time the incident occurred, but Mtshali said it must have happened 6am and 4pm.

A case of business burglary is being investigated and the police urge anyone who recognises the suspects, or anyone with any information to contact Det Sgt Tsakane Madukwe on 073-865-9530 or 011-393-8717.
