‘Scissor killer’ back in court for bail application

It is believed the suspect stabbed his classmate with a pair of scissors

The grade 12 pupil from Tsosoloso Ya Africa Secondary School, who allegedly stabbed and killed a fellow pupil, again appeared in Tembisa Magistrate’s Court today to apply for bail.

He was remanded in custody on Wednesday last week.

It is believed the suspect stabbed his classmate, Songeso Mabidla, with a pair of scissors used to cut paper in the classroom.

The Gauteng Department of Education’s spokesman, Phumla Sekhonyane, said the principal of Tsosoloso Ya Afrika Secondary School had alerted the head office about the incident as per the policy requirement.

“The police were called to the scene and the alleged perpetrator was arrested. The pupils and educators of the school were provided with trauma debriefing. The matter is now under police investigation and we have appealed to everyone who witnessed the incident to cooperate fully with the investigation.

“The district director and officials from the department have since visited the family,” said Sekhonyane.
