New Clover Mama in Tembisa

One of Tembisa's business women, Ms Marriam Makamo, was officially appointed as a new Clover Mama Africa.

She also received top of the range Tombake equipment and added value training courtesy of Chipkins recently.

Ms Makamo (46), who started her small baking business from nothing, now owns a bakery based in Jiyane Section.

She said she felt lucky and blessed to have Clover sponsoring her with bakery equipment and training.

“I have the best equipment in my bakery and the training I received for baking bread will definitely help us provide a better service to the community. I thank God for what He has done for me. I also thank Clover Mama Africa for uplifting my small business. I really appreciate the gesture,” she said.

The Tembisa born and bred Ms Makamo said she started her baking for a living.

“I started by selling one basket of cakes in Kempton Park, using a train as my transport. After some time, I carried two baskets and that was not enough for my customers. The business grew and I had to hire people to sell as street vendors in different areas in and around Kempton Park,” she said.

Ms Makamo currently employed 39 people, working in her bakery and working as street vendors. Ms Makamo specialises in birthday cakes, bread, scones, buns and cakes.

Her message to the community is that nothing is impossible with God.
