THE car of a Clayville family was found abandoned in Esselen Park on Monday night, a mere two hours after it had been hijacked.
Metro Police spokesman Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, said the father, mother and their child were surprised by two gun-toting men who demanded their BMW 1-Series sedan.
The hijacking took place at 8pm, in Clayville Extension 26. The hijacked BMW was recovered at 10pm.
The Metro Police used the car’s tracking system to trace the vehicle to Esselen Park Extension 2, where the vehicle was apparently abandoned by the perpetrators, who got cold feet.
The vehicle was booked in at the Olifantsfontein Police Station.
