Rapist accuses victim of being prostitute

The Tembisa SAPS arrested a 44-year-old man for allegedly raping a 49-year-old woman at the Sethokga Hostel in April this year.

According to the Tembisa SAPS spokesperson, Constable Zukiswa Mgijima, the victim was visiting her boyfriend at the hostel on the day of the rape.
“It is believed the suspect accused the victim of being a prostitute. It is claimed that the suspect dragged the 49-year-old woman to his room. He allegedly overpowered her and raped her several times in his room, until the early hours of the morning,” she said.
Const Mgijima said a case of rape was opened.
“The suspect was traced and found at his hiding place and arrested.
“We are appealing to residents to help fight against crime and to report any suspected criminal elements in the area,” said Const Mgijima.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.
