A doctor, who claimed he was on his way to hospital, was locked up for speeding on the N3 between the Modderfontein turn-off and Linksfield bridge on Sunday morning.
The 29-year-old doctor was doing 214km/h in his BMW sedan.

Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesman, said the doctor was one of seven speedsters arrested for exceeding the speed limit.
The rest of the arrested drivers clocked speeds of between 180 and 168km/h on this stretch of road which has a speed limit of 120km/h.
“Two of them claimed they were late for a church service when caught doing 180km/h and 173km/h respectively. One advanced a lame reason that he did realise he was travelling at 179km/h.
“A businessman, stating he was rushing to open his shop, was caught at 170km/h. A male driver, whose vehicle registered 168km/h, declared he was taking his boss to the airport. The seventh arrested driver, caught doing 174km/h, claimed he was taking his family to Braamfontein,” Kgasago said.
The arrestees were set free after posting bail of R1 000 each.
All seven arrested drivers were charged at Edenvale Police Station for reckless and negligent driving.
