A Nigerian man has been arrested in Esther Park this morning for possession of stolen cigarettes taken from a hijacked vehicle.
The arrest has been made by the metro police and Sebenza SAPS at a house on Amatungulu Street, where the cigarettes were being off-loaded. The metro police reacted on a tip off.
The British American Tobacco Company vehicle was hijacked in Olievenhoutbosch this morning and was later abandoned.
It looks as if the same modus operandi had been followed as in the hijack of a cigarette truck in Isando on Tuesday morning. Eight suspects were later arrested in connection with this crime at a house on Kweper Street.
