The body of newborn baby was found in a medical waste box next to the P91 towards Greenstone Mall at around 10am on Monday morning.
Mapaseka Lekhanya of the solid waste department of the City of Ekurhuleni, said workers were picking up trash when a man walking past called her.
He showed her the body of the baby wrapped in bloody linen inside the box. The man said he saw a woman put down the box. When she was gone, he went to see what was inside and made the gruesome discovery.
Spokesperson for Sebenza SAPS, Const Sharon Tsotsotso, said it looked like the baby was born this morning.
The case will be investigated by the forensic department.
