A stakeout at a block of flats on Kempton Road in the central business district lead to the arrest of a suspected Nigerian drug dealer on Saturday afternoon.
The EMPD Germiston Crime Prevention Unit arrested the man and seized the drug Cat and R24 600 cash following a tip off from members of the community. The arrest took place at about 1pm, Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesman, said.

“After staking out the flats for several hours, the metro police officers’ patience paid off when a red Opel Corsa with one male occupant was stopped and searched with the resultant recovery of two plastic bags containing Cat found hidden under the seats. The 27-year-old suspect admitted to be involved in drug dealing as a distributor in the Germiston area,” Kgasago said.
A charge of possession of an illicit substance was laid at Kempton Park Police Station. The money was confiscated as ill-gotten proceeds from his illegal trade.
