Hijacked car traced to Esselenpark within 30 minutes

No-one has been arrested in connection with the armed robbery

A silver Ford Siesta hijacked in Birchleigh North on Thursday night last week was recovered within half an hour with the assistance of a tracking system.

The hijacked vehicle was traced to Esselenpark by the metro police’s loss control and investigation unit, Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesman, said.

The Ford Fiesta was hijacked at gunpoint by an unknown number of perpetrators shortly before 8pm. The metro police officer received a look-out message and acted swiftly with the result that he located the vehicle abandoned in Esselen Park near Tembisa.

No-one had been arrested.
