Hijacked truck recovered in front of high school

Its cargo has already been removed

A Toyota Quantum panel van carrying a consignment of iphones and sim cards hijacked on Thursday night last week on the R21 at the Pomona turn-off at about 10pm, was found abandoned in Kempton Park CBD.

Its cargo was missing.

Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesman, said they received a look-out around 10.11pm and was able to trace the Quantum to Commissioner Street opposite Sir Pierre van Rynveld High School. It was recovered at 10.15pm.

A case of a hijacked vehicle and stolen cargo was registered at Kempton Park Police Station. Police have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators of the crime.
