An elderly woman was injured on Wednesday afternoon after being shot in the leg in the parking area of Van Riebeeck Park Pick n Pay on Soutpansberg Drive.

The incident happened at between 1pm and 2pm.

Details are still sketchy at the moment but reports claim she was followed from a bank at Festival Mall after withdrawing money.

At this stage, it seems as if the two robbers, who were allegedly in a silver BMW X5, got away with the woman’s money and handbag. The criminals’ vehicle had no registration number.

Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, Capt Lesibana Molokomme, would not comment on the incident late this afternoon
