Man assaults and threatens ex-girlfriend with gun

He was arrested at his home shortly thereafter

A 35-year-old man was arrested at his house in Watertrapper Street, Birch Acres at about 7:30pm on Tuesday, for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend and pointing a firearm at her.

Norkem Park police spokesman Capt Lesibana Molokomme said it is believed an argument between the former couple started when the man’s ex-girlfriend arrived at his house with their child.

“The suspect allegedly took out a firearm from his car and started assaulting her with it,” explained Molokomme.

The man faces charges of assault and pointing a firearm.

The firearm was booked into the SAPS store.
