Suspected killer hands himself over to police

It is believed the two men were fighting when the incident happened

A man has been charged with murder after handing himself in at the Kempton Police Station on Thursday night, last week.

The 30-year-old man told police he stabbed his colleague to death at their workplace in Brentwood Park, between Kempton and Benoni.

According to police spokesperson Capt Jethro Mthslai, the two Zimbabwean nationals were allegedly involved in a fight when the deceased was stabbed.

“On June 4 at about 8.45pm, police officials on duty at the time said the suspect walked into the station and claimed to have stabbed someone at an address along Middle Street and Main Street in the Brentwood Park area,” Mtshali said.

Police immediately went to the alleged scene of the crime and found the victim fatally wounded with a severe head injury.

The broken knife was still stuck in his forehead.

The man will appear in the Kempton Park Magistrates Court on attempted murder charges.
