Police recover stolen ‘pub crawling’ car

A man has been arrested for possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle

A car that was stolen outside a Pretoria Road pub last month, has been found outside another pub along the same road.

Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for the Kempton SAPS, reported that members of the Crime Prevention Unit were notified of a suspicious silver Toyota Tazz parked outside Club 88 on Pretoria Road, just before midnight on Tuesday, last week.

“On arriving outside the club the police found an occupant sitting in the driver’s seat of the car. Upon questioning him, the man could not give a valid explanation regarding the ownership of the car,” Mtshali said.

Police checked the vehicle and discovered it was reported stolen last month from Dipereng Pub, also on Pretoria Road.

The 34-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle and will appear in court soon.
