“Operations will be taking place every weekend, we are going to recruit informers and pay them to fight these criminals,” she said.
Tshabalala said she would be part of all the community crime Whatsapp groups and would be available 24 hours a day.
During the meeting it was raised that patrollers were not police and did not have the authority to stop and search residents, manhandle, or beat up suspects.
This came after images of suspects arrested by CPFs had surfaced on social media networks.
In the previous CPF meeting held in May, the SAPS report pointed out that repeat offenders were mostly committing crimes.
Birch Acres was highlighted as a hot spot for carjacking, and suspects were said to be pushing the vehicles out of the yards.
Volswagens stood out as the vehicle make that was mostly targeted, followed by Toyota and Opel.
Business robberies were said to be taking place mostly at hair salons because they are open till late.
Client’s cars were also being targeted outside the salons.
A By-Law seminar will be held on June 10 from 6pm at the same venue.
The seminar will be hosted by the Ekurhuleni Metro Police and will address a number of issues including how the Bus Rapid System (BRT) route, under the Integrated Rapid Public Transport Network, operates.
The 2015 AGM will take place on August 6, and details will follow at a later stage.
