Police make 102 arrests

The Tembisa SAPS Cluster and Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) members conducted several roadblocks and stop-and-searches last weekend.

The Norkem Park SAPS spokesperson, Captain Lesibana Molokomme, said 34 people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and 15 traffic fines were issued to motorists.

Other arrests included six for possession of dagga, eight illegal immigrants, three for residential burglary and theft, one for possession of drugs, one for dealing in drugs, two for selling liquor without a permit, two for malicious damage to property and three for the theft of a firearm.

Two suspects were arrested for drinking in public, three for drunkenness and three for possession of suspected stolen property.

In addition, the operation also nabbed a further three suspects for shoplifting, seven for assault, one for rape, two for fraud, one for trespassing and six for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
