A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a businessman inside his shop in Ivory Park on June 6.
According to Constable Zukiswa Mgijima, from the Ivory Park SAPS, the victim was returning from a salon and stopped at the store to purchase some sweets.
The girl said while she was inside the shop, the shop owner grabbed her and put something on her face. The victim claimed she was blindfolded and lost consciousness.
“She did not know what happened next. She woke up later and found that she was naked. The man told her to get dressed,” said Const Mgijima.
“The victim was told to go home, but she was in pain and reported the incident to the Ivory Park SAPS,” said Const Mgijima.
“A case of rape has been opened with the Ivory Park SAPS. The suspect was traced and arrested,” said Const Mgijima.
The 24-year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on charges of kidnapping and rape.
