The Kasi Career Expo will roll out in July 2015 across some of the country's largest and oldest townships. Over 35 000 students are expected to attend.

The Kasi Career Expo will take place at the Mehlareng Stadium in Tembisa from July 3 to 4.
InvesTong Group, in partnership with the Department of Basic Education and Soul Africa Group (Pty) Ltd, will host the event, which is the first township career exhibition.
“The Kasi Career Expo will roll out in July 2015 across some of the country’s largest and oldest townships. Over 35 000 students are expected to attend,” said Ms Zuziwe Mkhwanazi, from Unorthodox (Pty) Ltd.
“The expo will facilitate conversations around career opportunities for previously disadvantaged township-based students,” she said.
According to Ms Mkhwanazi, they invited partners that are committed to creating a brighter and sustainable future in South Africa.
Over 150 exhibitors and sponsors will be at the expo.
“Pupils, parents, teachers and unemployed graduates will be offered career advice, access to information about obtaining bursaries, employment opportunities, information regarding access to SETA accredited qualifications, engagement platforms with mentors and well-known personalities,” said Ms Mkhwanazi.
“The expo will be enhanced with Education Master Classes to enable students to interact with decision makers and participants, to address key issues arising from township education systems and teaching them how to practically apply global best practices,” she said.
Ms Mkhwanazi said the Education Master Classes will be facilitated by ambassadors known as Thought Champions who are leaders in their respective fields.
Guests and facilitators expected are radio personality and actress Thando Thabethe, athlete and Olympic medalist Khotso Mokoena, soap star Manaka Ranaka, Bafana Bafana soccer star Simphiwe Tshabalala and Orlando Pirates striker, Lennox Bacela.
“Pupils and schools can register group bookings online at www.kasiexpo.co.za to be part of this exciting event,” said Ms Zuziwe Mkhwanazi.
Parents and pupils are encouraged to attend the expo in Tembisa.
