A Nigerian man was bust at OR Tambo International Airport on Saturday for being in possession of a drug-making chemical, ephedrine, valued at R3-million.
Abuchi Daniel Osadebe (28), who was travelling on a Nigerian issued passport, was arrested by the police’s Trans International Investigation Team and Interpol shortly after landing at the airport early on Saturday from Nigeria’s commercial capital, Lagos.
The man’s luggage was found containing ephedrine weighing more than 10kg. Ephedrine is one of the key chemicals used in the making of cocaine.
Osadebe appeared in Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Monday and his case was postponed to July 7 for a bail hearing.
Osadebe has been remanded in custody.
