OPERATION Molao was held in Norkem Park on Thursday last week and two suspects were arrested for possession of dagga.
Norkem Park SAPS spokesman Capt Lesibana Molokomme said the initiative was a joint operation between the Norkem Park Crime Prevention Unit, detectives, and the EMPD together with their K9 Dog Unit.

The community park in Maraboe Street, Birch Acres, and the open spaces behind Birchleigh North Clinic and Pick n Pay were visited, said Molokomme.
“Young people were stopped and searched. Two suspects aged 17 were arrested for possession of dagga, weighing three grams with a street value estimated at R60, and were later released into their parents’ care as they are underage,” he explained.
“The aim of the operation was to target schools and community parks suspected to be hotspots for drug use. School searches were conducted at Norkem Park High,” Molokomme added further.
Commander of the Norkem Park Police Station, Col Manana Fransinah Tshabalala, was in charge of the operation.
“Such joint operations will be conducted throughout the rest of the year. We are appealing to schools and parents to inspect learners’ school bags to avoid such incidents,” appealed Molokomme.
Sixteen metro police members in 12 cars supported the operation.
