A 33-year-old man was arrested for rape on June 23.
The incident occurred in Tsepo Section, Tembisa.
According to Consatable Patricia Mgijima, from the Tembisa SAPS, the victim was at home when a man knocked on her door.
“According to the victim, the man pleaded for gloves and a beanie. She opened the door for him. Once the suspect was inside, he threatened the victim with a firearm.
“He kicked her and ordered her to undress and lie on the bed. The victim begged the suspect to use a condom. He agreed. He then raped the victim repeatedly,” said Const Mgijima.
According to the victim, when the suspect fell asleep she managed to sneak out and call for help.
“Before the police could arrive, the suspect woke up and ran away,” said Const Mgijima.
“The victim reported the incident to the Tembisa SAPS. The police started tracing the suspect and he was arrested at his home,” said Const Mgijima.
The SAPS urges residents to not open their doors to strangers at any time of the day or night.
