The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) recovered more than half a consignment of animal products which were stolen during a hijacking in Boksburg in May.
61 boxes with 10 litre containers in each box were stolen.
Acting on a tip-off on Monday, the EMPD and the SAPS, together with the help of a vehicle tracking company, cornered an LDV carrying 44 boxes of Maxicare, a parasite treatment for livestock.
“The vehicle was stopped at the intersection of the R25 and R50 in Bapsfontein, shortly before 8pm,” said the EMPD’s spokesman, Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago.
A Mercedes Benz sedan, which was escorting the LDV, was found with one box of the products in its boot.
The stolen goods were stored in a house in Tembisa until a buyer was found.
The three suspects who were arrested admitted to being en-route to Delmas, where they were to meet the buyer.
