Men who swallowed drugs due in court today

In another incident a man was arrested with drugs wrapped around his body

Two men, allegedly acting as drug mules, will appear in Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court today (Wednesday).

It is believed the two men, travelling on Angolan and DRC passports, apparently swallowed the drugs. They were arrested at OR Tambo International Airport on Tuesday, police spokesman Brig Vishnu Naidoo said.

The men, aged 35 and 47, were in transit from Sao Paolo, Brazil. The value of the drugs could not be established yet because some of the drugs are still lodged in their stomachs.

In a separate incident a 52-year-old man appeared in Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday after R1m worth of tik was found wrapped around his body at OR Tambo International Airport.

Emmanuel Akunehuezi Obiwuru, who was travelling on a Nigerian issued passport, was arrested at the airport at the weekend,  Naidoo said.

“At the time of his arrest, he had just disembarked from a flight that was coming from Lagos, Nigeria,” Naidoo said.

Obiwuru’s case was postponed and he would remain in custody.
