The Olifantsfontein SAPS arrested a taxi driver for alleged theft at an Olifantsfontein petrol station.
According to the Olifantsfontein SAPS spokesperson, Constable Mokete Serakwana, the suspect allegedly stopped at the garage to fill his vehicle with petrol.
“It is believed the taxi driver asked one of the petrol attendants to fill up with petrol.
“After the petrol attendant filled the vehicle, the driver just drove off,” she said.
Constable Serakwana said the Olifantsfontein SAPS’ Sergeant Andries Mashala and Constable David Rammutla traced the owner of the vehicle who provided the SAPS with information about the driver.
“The police officers then proceeded to the Oakmoor Taxi Rank where members of the local taxi association took to the street and apprehended the suspect. A case of theft was opened at the Olifantsfontein SAPS,” she said.
