MATA and College Ireland join hands
The signing was officiated by the Honorable Charles Flanagan, Minister of Foreign Affairs & Trade, Republic of Ireland.
A signing ceremony to formalise the envisaged collaboration between College Ireland and Mega Aero Training Academy (MATA) took place on May 27 at the MATA premises.
The collaboration will enhance European Aviation Safety Agency-based (EASA) aerospace technical training between Ireland and South Africa.
The signing was officiated by Charles Flanagan, the Republic of Ireland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade. MATA is a subsidiary of the Safomar Group and was established in January 2011.
School leavers are invited to enroll in this training programme for aircraft maintenance engineers and technicians. It is a fully certified South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) aviation training organisation offering training for apprentices/learners, with an aviation technical training centre that performs training for technicians.
MATA provides specialised training for the aviation industry, as well as a refined course curriculum for each of the following trades: aircraft mechanic, aircraft instruments mechanic, aircraft electrician, aircraft radiotrician, aircraft avionician, aircraft structures worker and aircraft painter. The training curriculum has been customised with the help of aircraft maintenance organisations to ensure that students gain the required industry specific aviation maintenance knowledge and skills.
“Our training academy can assist students in selecting a specific trade in line with their aptitude and area of interest,” says Shai Shalem, CEO of Safomar Holdings.
“Our training facilities are based at OR Tambo International Airport, housed in a three-storey facility, plus a hangar for practical training, including workshops for structure and aircraft painting.
“The academy has eight classrooms for theory study, three examination rooms and a trade test preparation centre.”
MATA is also accredited by the Transport Education and Training Authority (TETA), the National Artisan Moderation Body (NAMB) and ISO: 9001:2008 accredited with SACCA.
