Three suspects released in Edleen murder case

The remaining four remain in custody

THREE of the suspects arrested in connection with armed house robbery and the murder of an EMPD officer in Edleen on Saturday were released on Monday.

Four suspects are still in custody after briefly appearing in Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The case has been postponed to July 22 for a bail application.

According to acting Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, WO Mahlodi Langa, three of the arrested suspects were released as they could not be linked to the crime.

The other four suspects who remain in custody are Paul Manyathela (23), Clement Mosweu (26), Lebogang Mdebele (24) and Bheki Nkosi (25).

The suspects are allegedly responsible for taking the life of officer Martiens Bann while he attempted to assist his neighbours during a house robbery.

The four have been charged with house robbery, murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and a stolen motor vehicle.
