The Olifantsfontein SAPS is appealing to members of the community to help with any information that could lead to the arrest of four wanted suspects.
According to the Tembisa SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Captain Manyadza Ralidzivha, the men are wanted for common robbery and rape.
“The victim told officers she boarded a white Quantum. She thought it was a taxi driving the route to Centurion. Four men were inside the vehicle. While on the way, the driver suddenly made a u-turn and drove towards Irene. One of the men started to strangle the woman,” he said.
Capt Ralidzivha said the men took the woman’s bank cards and demanded her pin number.
“They then stopped the vehicle and tied her up with cable ties. The driver assaulted the woman and raped her. Two of his accomplices also took turns raping her,” he said.
“The fourth man told his accomplices he did not feel comfortable raping the woman in front of them and he told her to leave,” said Capt Ralidzivha
He urged people with information about the suspects to come forward.
“The men spoke Zulu and are aged between 20 and 30. Three of them are dark in complexion and one is light,” he said.
