SA woman detained after cocaine bust at airport

She is expected to appear in court on Monday

A 42-year old woman South African woman will appear in Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Monday after drugs worth over R1 million were allegedly found in her luggage at OR International Airport.

Police spokesman Vishnu Naido said she was arrested on Saturday after arriving from Sao Paolo on a SAA flight.

“Members from customs and excise conducted routine checks and discovered that the woman had concealed over 4kg of drugs, believed to be cocaine, in books which were in her check-in luggage. The drugs are valued at over R1.2 million,” Naido said.
