The Ivory Park SAPS is looking for a man who allegedly raped a woman in Ivory Park, Extension 13, next to Riverside on Thursday last week.
According to the Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, the woman was on her way to church when she was approached by an unknown man. The man pretended to be going to the same church as the victim.
“While on their way to the church, the man grabbed the woman and forced her into some nearby bushes. The woman allegedly fainted and when she woke up she found herself without her underwear. That was when she noticed she had been raped,” she said.
W/O Sekgobela said the man also took the victim’s handbag, which included several valuable items.
“Another incident occurred two hours later on the same evening in Kaalfontein, Extension 22, a few kilometres away from Riverside.
“A woman was on her way home when she was approached by a man wearing white clothes and carrying a handbag as if he was going to church,” she said.
W/O Sekgobela said the man hit the woman with an unknown object.
“The woman fell and fainted. When she regained consciousness, she found herself without any underwear. She also noticed she had been raped. Her handbag and other valuable items were also taken,” she said.
The SAPS is appealing for residents, especially women, to be vigilant at all times.
