Addict with septic wound left for days at Tembisa Hospital
Out of desperation he posted a photograph of her wound on Facebook, asking for help

A 33-year-old homeless drug addict waited four days in Tembisa Hospital before a septic wound on her right arm was cleaned.
According to Michael Faser, the man who came to her rescue, she was only operated on, on Sunday after he took her there on Thursday.

“My mom and I took her to the hospital after she had asked for our help to get her clean and off the streets. I am also a recovering drug addict and have been clean for eight years, so I know what she’s going through. When we arrived at the hospital they said she needed to go into surgery to clean the wound but nothing happened after that,” said Faser.

Out of desperation he posted a photograph of her wound on Facebook, asking for help.
“A member of the DA helped us and the acting CEO of the hospital, Dr Barbara-Ann Ribeiro, gave me a call on Sunday afternoon, saying they would attend to her as soon as possible,” said Faser.
She went into surgery at about 3pm on Sunday afternoon and her wound was cleaned.
“My mom told me about the woman and I went to her explaining I also struggled with drugs, however, no doctor or rehab could get you better if you did not not want to be helped. She told me she did not want to live like this any more and wanted help. That is why we are doing everything we can to help her.”
EXPRESS is still waiting for comment from Tembisa hospital’s public relations officer, Lesibana Ledwaba.
