THREE employees of RAM were found locked in the back of their truck after its was hijacked in Birch Acres on Friday morning.
Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesman, said the incident occurred shortly after 11am. Six men in a white Ford Bantam hijacked the RAM courier vehicle transporting a cargo of cellphones.

“The assailants drove off after robbing the RAM vehicle of forty-five boxes containing cellphones destined for clients. EMPD Loss Control Unit members with tracker personnel recovered the vehicle at 12.50pm on Cairo Street in Enhlanzeni Section in Tembisa. The shocked and bemused employees of RAM found in the back were fortunately not harmed in the process,” Kgasago said.
Investigations are underway to arrest all those found to have been involved in the crime.
In a separate incident, a horse and trailer Scania truck was hijacked by an unknown number of assailants on Thursday night in Alberton.
A joint effort by the EMPD Loss Control, SAPS Rapid Response officers, as well as Tracker personnel resulted in the truck being recovered in Olifantsfontein on Friday morning at 10.15am.
“It is suspected the truck was parked in an area where it could not give out signals of its location. The truck was found abandoned with its load of plasma television sets missing. The authorities are in search of the driver who has been missing since Thursday night when the truck was hijacked, Kgasago said.
Investigations are underway to apprehend the suspects, who are still at large.
