According to Ludwig’s daughter, LuCharl Pieterse from Richards Bay, her stepmother is currently in ICU. About 60cm of her intestine had to be removed yesterday. She is still in a lot of pain but is doing well.

She said her dad went into theatre on Saturday morning to clean the wounds on his knee.

According to LuCharl her parents’ car battery failed and they could not get the car started again. “They were waiting for the insurance to come help with the car and have been waiting for almost two hours when the attack occurred,” she told Express.

An armed man approached the vehicle and shot Ludwig twice in the leg and SuMari in the stomach. “He only got away with my dad’s phone as he couldn’t get the car started.

“My dad tried to fight back and the guy ran away. People then stopped to help my parents.”

No arrests have been made.
