SOME cricket players are smiling again after the metro police recovered their car and trailer which were stolen at Barnard Stadium while they were practising.
The theft took place on December 21 while the players were enjoying a morning of cricket.
Although the trailer has been recovered, most of their bags and equipment which were on it, are still missing.

Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesman, said investigations were undertaken by Winnie Mandela precinct members, resulted in both vehicles being recovered.
The trailer was found December 24 and the Fiat Uno on Wednesday, January 6. Both vehicles were recovered at different locations in Tembisa.
“CCTV camera footage at Barnard Stadium revealed that the Uno and its trailer were stolen by persons in a Honda Ballade, seen closely following the stolen vehicles at the stadium’s exit gate. The Honda Ballade’s identification was used to track down the stolen vehicles,” Kgasago said.
On December 24 the metro police found the trailer in a yard at Entsonalanga Section, including some of the items which were on the trailer on the day of its theft.
On January 6 at around 2pm the Fiat Uno was found abandoned in a street in Welamlambo Section.
“Metro police are hot on the trail of the culprits who are believed to have gone into hiding,” Kgasago said.
In-depth investigations are underway to bring the persons responsible to book.
