POLICE are still searching for a Daveyton man who was kidnapped in September last year.
Kempton SAPS spokesperson, Capt Jethro Mtshali, told EXPRESS that Elio Makwakwa (30) was taken by two men in a black 2005 Toyota Corolla while he and his brother were looking for jobs in Isando on September 30.

“The brother claims he and the victim were job-searching in Isando on the day of the incident. The two were walking when a black Toyota Corolla approached them,” Mtshali explained.
According to Makwakwa’s brother, two men inside the car called them but they made a run for it.
“The car allegedly followed them as they continued to run but eventually disappeared.”
Some time later, while the brothers stopped to buy fruit on Loper Avenue, the same car approached them again.
The brothers once again attempted to run away and this time were chased by the two men. Makwakwa was captured, forced inside the car and driven away.
“The brother managed to escape and went back to their home in Daveyton. When he arrived home, he says he phoned his brother on his cellphone and a strange man answered. The man on the phone demanded R60 000 cash for his brother’s safe return.”
He was told he must deposit the money into a Capitec account but told them he did not have the money. After opening a case of kidnapping, police launched an investigation, during which it was discovered that the account details given were false and that such an account did not exist.
“The victim has still not returned or found and police appeal to the community for any information that can help with the investigations.”
