THREE suspects’ attempt to flee after robbing a woman left them hanging in the air – literally.
After robbing a woman of R2 000 cash at a Nedbank ATM at Glen Acres Shopping Centre at about 7.15pm on Wednesday night, three men tried to flee the scene in an allegedly stolen white, rented Kia vehicle.
But the driver’s skills failed him when he reversed right onto a side wall of the Shell garage at the centre in Glen Marais. As a result, the robbers were left mounted on the edge of the low wall, with the car’s back tyres suspended in the air.
According to MML Security’s Operations Manager, Dewald Lategan, a witness alerted the company’s response unit when they saw the robbery taking place.
“Luckily, three of our response vehicles were in the area and managed to get to the scene within a short space of time,” Lategan explained.
MML Security officers Hans Matthee, Robert Thoms and Marcel Nijbour apprehended the three suspects, who were then arrested by the police.
