THE story a suspected thief fed to the police about finding CCTV cameras in a dustbin was not convincing enough to keep him out of jail.
The 36-year-old man told patrolling Kempton police officers, who had stopped and searched him, that he found two CCTV cameras in his possession in a dustbin at work, police spokesperson Capt Jethro Mthali told EXPRESS.

According to Mtshali, the incident occurred on Monday last week at about 3.45pm on Pretoria Road in Glen Marais.
“While patrolling in the area, a police officer came across three suspicious men. He asked to search them and it is alleged that he found two CCTV cameras on one of the men. When he asked him where he found the items, the suspect said he had found them in the bin at his work place,” Mtshali said.
The suspect will appear in court for the possession of stolen property.
In another incident on the same day, two suspects were arrested for being in possession of dagga.
Both men were found by police officers at different places, both at about 4pm.
The one suspect, (23) was caught at the corner of Long Street and Monument Road and the second one on Langenhoven Street in Kempton CBD.
They both had tried hiding the weed in their back pockets. Both suspects have been charged with the possession of dagga.
