
A 29-year-old woman woman, allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, was clocked doing 146km/h on the R24 on Sunday.
Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesman, said the woman, driving a BMW sedan, was caught near the Edenvale bridge just before 7am.

She was fined R800 for excessive speeding and will appear in Edenvale Magistrate’s Court on a charge of drunk driving.
During the same operation a 39-year-old man was nabbed doing 176km/h in a VW Polo.
In a separate operation, also on Sunday, seven drivers were caught for speeding between 5.30am and 9.30am on the R21 at the R562 bridge. They all clocked speeds ranging from 166km/h to 216km/h, Kgasago said.
A 33-year old man on a Suzuki motorcycle was caught travelling at 216km/h. He claimed he was late for a meeting.
The other six drivers advanced reasons of rushing to the airport. Their speeds were 178, 173, 172, 168 and 166km/h. They were all charged at Olifantsfontein Police Station for reckless and negligent driving.
